Favorite Thanksgiving Stories for Children

by Wednesday, November 11, 2020

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! I love the idea of spending time with family and friends. I love Black Friday deals!! Most of all it is so exciting welcoming the official start to the Christmas season. As a mom and a teacher, sharing good literature is a favorite pastime and tradition for me. There are not only wonderful lessons and teachable moments to be shared but there are fun and memorable stories as well.  I wanted to share a few of my favorite Thanksgiving stories that you can read and enjoy with your family. More are around a dollar or even less!

A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting is a classic Thanksgiving story that I read every year to my girls. You may be familiar with Eve Bunting from her many other wonderful stories she has written. Here is my favorite Thanksgiving story! I don’t want to ruin the ending so that is all I will say!

Fried Feathers for Thanksgiving by James Stevenson is a fun book written in comic strip format. The Paperback book is currently $.56!

How to Celebrate Thanksgiving by P.K. Hallinan shares Thanksgiving traditions both old and new. It will help inspire you to start your own Thanksgiving Day activities! Paperback is currently $1.30!

Thanksgiving Is… by Louise Borden is a leveled reader that has many nonfiction elements to help introduce young readers to the history of Pilgrims and Thanksgiving.
